The Witch’s Uprising
The Witch’s Uprising is now a 94,000 – word manuscript. I will begin querying literary agents soon. This book is the first in a nine-novel series called A Thousand Watchful Eyes. For a quick overview, check this out.
Each book is a medieval-inspired fantasy intended for a young adult, teen, and adult audience. For behind-the-scenes details and updates, visit my Patreon.
Threadbare follows Wylla, a young seamstress’s daughter who accidentally discovers a small dragon near the mysterious Darkwood of her village.
Wylla is twice blessed, as her mother says. She is a girl of two heritages – the settlers from the north, and the islanders of the southern seas. Her mother’s people were storytellers born of fire and warm magic tides. Her father’s people were craftsmen with courage as strong and bold as the stone they carved.
Were he not taken by the Darkwood, he would tell her she was strong as a dragon’s fire and tough as a castle keep, not cursed as all the villagers believe.
A needle and thread are all her mother needs to keep a living, but Wyla dreams of dragons with wings so strong they could uproot the Darkwood and fly away together.
In the next five years, I plan on making a collection of family stories, particularly ones that capture my mother’s childhood experiences in the Philippines and the uniqueness of growing up half-American and half-Filipino. I am in the pre-writing / research phase.
From May 7th- May 14th, 2018 – I launched my 7-Day Reading Challenge over Instagram, Twitter, and WordPress. Read more about it here.
An Illustrated Anthology of Short Stories or Novellas
Someday, when I have enough fantasy material, I would like to create an anthology of short stories and works in collaboration with artists that I know.
Eventually, I would like to start a podcast that accompanies my blog posts on Paper Palaces, my work on Patreon, general tips and tricks for writers, and audio recordings of passages from my written work.
This is something I am willing to experiment with; however, I prefer to communicate through writing. The videos would only serve as complementary material to the blog, podcast, and Patreon, serving as a medium for delivering behind-the-scenes content.
I post updates to Patreon for Patrons and followers in general, meaning, you don’t have to be a Patron to get an update. I also update anyone for free, once a month, as part of my mailing list (sign up below).
